  • To allocating classes and teaching spaces to Department staff across the Senior School, in liaison with the Director of Music.
  • To be responsible for compiling and updating key documents for the teaching, assessment and promotion of curricular music alongside the Department staff, including but not limited to: Departmental schemes of work, a coursework recording and submission calendar, internal written exams and tests, exam entry sheets, mark sheets for recording and tracking pupil performance in internal assessments, and information for pupils and parents about the music curriculum.
  • This information, alongside the monitoring of co-curricular contributions by teaching staff, will be used to inform the completion of the yearly appraisals which are completed by the Director of Music
  • To provide Senior School teaching staff with feedback on lesson observation and the quality of marking and progress made by their students, under the guidance of the Director of Music.
  • To be responsible for managing and monitoring the Senior School curricular teaching carried out by other Music Department staff, under the guidance of the Director of Music.

  • To facilitate and build on the September 2023 launch of the Music Department’s vision for KS3: ‘Music: The New Generation’.
  • Year-on-year we have pupils continue their music studies at degree level, including at institutions such as Oxbridge and conservatoire.
  • The Eduqas syllabus is taught at A Level.
  • There will be 25 pupils embarking upon GCSE Music.
  • The Music Department will have 6 pupils in Year 13 and six pupils in Year 12 in September 2023.
  • The candidate would take lead responsibility for the academic provision and outcomes of students in the Senior School at all Key Stages, under the guidance of the Director of Music. The Assistant Director of Music (Academic) works closely with the Director of Music and plays a key role in leadership and strategic planning of the department, which comprises eleven members of staff and over twenty-five visiting staff members. The department achieves highly successful results at KS4 and 5 and is ambitious for the outcomes of its pupils. The candidate would join a large and successful music department which prepares pupils to perform music at over sixty School events each academic year, and within which over four-hundred music lessons take place each week.
